The exhibition followed the traditional display of drawings hung on the wall which the viewer gazes at trying to visually find meaning.
Generally, I was impressed by the skill of the artists’ drawings but I was bored by the traditional nature of the exhibition. Derek Jarmen’s diaries were in a display case. It would have been beautiful to turn the pages of the books.

Timofeev’s pastel wall drawings dominated the space as you walked into the gallery. Could I make a collaborative drawing between the audience and artist on the wall? I’ve seen wall drawings by artist and wall drawings by participants but not a collaborate drawing in a prime position in a gallery space. Generally collaboration happens in a drawing workshop in a side room not in the main gallery space.

The Drawing Room had a space for the public to draw in the library at the side of the gallery. In a space apart.
